Tour Photos
Posted Nov 7, 21:32 by Kevin FinlaysonHalfway through the tour and controller has handed off 200+ photos to go on the site. We’re going to revamp the gallery to handle the volume, and add a friends section, where snapshots of new people they met on the road will go. Poke around, see if you’re in there (when it’s up).
Actually now I’m thinking you’re 100% right, Sam. The band hasn’t really used the tour diary section, and if they’re not going to use it now i bet they never will. Might as well get rid of it and give that menu real-estate to the forum. It’s not as though this is just between the comments and the forum – much of controller’s online community is in myspace anyway, so the comments don’t really have a chance in hell as a main tool for dialogue.
I’m also thinking of converting the tour diary into a ‘scrapbook’ where instead of journal entries, we have photos with captions, kind of a less powerful version of flickr. Obviously the band is way more into taking photos of their fans than writing about them – I think it would be cool.
I’m really glad to have a constructive dialogue like this btw!

Tour Diary… They never have internet on the road. If they do it’s for a minute. So they tour diary doesn’t get done. Pictures would be rad! People will check the site out more if they went to the shows just to see the pictures (of themselves) good idea.

Halifax show at stage nine was fantastic. Scott, your guitar tone and playing floored me once again. Truely the most unique and greatest live guitar sound I’ve ever heard.

Oh yes! I saw you guys in Fredericton, then came home to see you in Moncton! Both shows were incredible, I hope you guys had as much fun as we did!!!!! I’ve never felt so energetic at a show! But I was heartbroken to hear that Nirmala won’t marry me ;)

Halifax was indeed amazing – maybe more for us than for you guys, in fact! It was really heartwarming and encouraging to see so many people at both the Pavilion and Stage Nine shows.
Thank you to everyone who came out to see us on the road, and a big thank you to Kevin for posting all the photos I took of the people we met along the way. It’s important to me that the friends we’ve made on tour are a part of this site (and know so). (P.S., Kevin, nice updated slideshow! I like the use of the split screen.)
And Adam, dear Adam, it was great to see you in Fredericton AND Moncton, but don’t be too heartbroken. You’d get sick of living in a small one-bedroom apartment with me and my husband pretty quickly.

No, wait, Kevin! It’s true what bitchykitty (aka Miss Sam) said about spotty internet access on the road (hence our monopolizing of your computer when we stayed over at your place last week). I may enjoy taking and posting photos of friends and sights on the road – I really do, actually – but Ronnie seems to enjoy and do well with the tour diary. There are some things that we are unable to document by any other means than the written tour diary.
I do like the idea of photo captions. Will work on actually writing captions for my photos at some point.
I also like that there’s a permanent link to the forum below the e-mail link, but I myself love the immediacy and obviousness of the comments section. Ronnie does keep the myspace account running smoothly, though.

that show was amazing. Thank you to everyone in contoller.controller for a great show, my body ached for days and i was high as a kit from giddiness afterwards. Am I stupid or have you posted the pics from the halifax show yet?

Hey there, Controller.Controller! I agree with “creepy fag”, that show was absolutely amazing! I had an inexplicable amount of fun :) It was really great meeting each of you (at some point during the night). You were all SO incredibly nice!! Incase you can’t figure out who I am, I was the girl who randomly came up to you, knew your names, and took a picture with you (I even hugged Jeff when he came off the stage!). You must all think I’m crazy! Thanks for putting up with my nonsense, haha. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how thankful I am that you came to Halifax. I seriously think everyone at the Stage Nine show left in a state of bliss! Please come back to Nova Scotia, and more specifically, Sydney (Although, I would drive the 6 hours to Halifax again, in a second, if that’s the most eastern area you would visit.)! I think an East Coast tour would be fabulous, Ronnie! Hope to see you again!

Jess – there weren’t a ton of people dancing in Winnipeg, so thank you! I had fun (the Collective Cabaret crew is great), despite almost knocking Jeff’s teeth out with his cymbal.
