Fall Tour Begins!

Posted Oct 14, 14:26 by Kevin Finlayson

Controller.controller played the first of many shows on the road last night in London, Ontario. The tour spans Canada with one US date in Chicago. For specific dates and venues, visit the ‘Shows’ part of the front page. Over the next few weeks – as the band settles into a routine on the road and gets used to the new website – you can check back here for photos and reports from the road.

Renee, we’d love to come back to California. My guess is that we’ll be there as an opening band. Hopefully soon!

Chris, so glad you came out to the Edmonton show. We had such a great time in Alberta. The Magnetas and I even went to the West Edmonton Mall.

Keith, I’m glad you had as much fun at the Calgary show as I did! That was awesome. Alberta kids know how to dance.

I was at Edmonton’s Saturday show (the crazy girl standing on the chair the whole time – dancing on a chair in heels is definitely no cakewalk!). You were fantastic. Ever since I heard “History” here on Sonic 102.9 for the first time, I’ve been hooked on you guys and every single song I’ve heard since then has only made me love you more. Both your History EP and the new album have been in virtually non-stop rotation on my iPod since it came out.

It’s been an extremely long time since a band has captured my attention like this. I think what you are doing is really important, especially you Nirmala. There are so few real, authentic female voices in the rock genre today and it’s really inspiring to see a female-fronted band succeed because they produce great work and possess raw talent (are you sure you didn’t steal Debbie Harry’s vocal chords while she was sleeping?), and not because their frontwoman whores herself out to the media by flaunting T&A and posing half-naked in magazines and on album covers.

You’ve got yourself a long-time fan here. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

Argh. I didn’t realize Controller Controller was in town in Vancouver. A Victoria radio station plugged me into Metric and Controller at the same time.. I managed to see Metric though which was a great time, I just wish I could have made it..

hey nirm,
it was great seeing you over the course of the maritime tour. sorry i didn’t get out to hali for the final show but i was plum exhausted by saturday (don’t know how you guys do it every night). everyone i brought out to your shows came away a huge fan of controller, and yourself especially since you took the time to talk to everyone. one of my friends of the female persuasion called you an inspiration for all women who want to do the music thing and i agree. anyhoo, hopefully i’ll catch up with you again shortly. thanks again and if you’re in ottawa over xmas look mark and i up.
cheers

Hey Craig!

No worries about Halifax (though both shows were incredible in terms of turnout, and I think we did pretty well onstage, too) – it’s totally understandable given all the driving you did over those four days. (Besides, having seen three of our shows in three days, you deserve to have the night off.)

It was great seeing you again and meeting your friends and family. Tell your female friend that I thank her very much, and also that she should start a band. There will probably be photos of all of you on the site pretty soon!

I’m in Albuquerque with my in-laws for Christmas but might be in Ottawa around New Year’s Eve. If you’re there at that time we’ll hang out! Screw Mark – he’s a ghost to me! You hear that, Othmer? har har

Hey, Nirmala, and Scott, and Ronnie, and Jeff, and Colwyn.

This is Matt from CKDU in Halifax.

I hope you guys had a safe trip back. I was completely oblivious to the severity of your van trouble. I mean, you spent nearly five hours trying to figure out what was wrong with it. I do hope that you drove safely, and that it didn’t break down again.

I’d be interested in having you guys call in some time, assuming you’re not insanely busy, probably in the new year. It sucks for me on a personal level that I didn’t get to speak to you guys, because I’m known by my peers as “the fan who cares”, and getting to know you on a personal level, not just from a vapid media standpoint, is one of the few things I’d like to do during my time in this city.

Hopefully, by now, Wes has given you guys my email address. If any of you want my phone number, exclusing Scott, just… well, ask Scott. You can text me, too, but I may not have much use to my phone for a bit. As I said to Scott via text, and I’m sure he’s spread it around, it’s very expensive to call from here. Which is why I suggested the IM thing. Or the email thing.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the other dates you have left, I’m glad you guys got home safe without any other trouble, and I look forward to talking to you soon.
=),
Matt

P.S: PF has become a bit of a cult hit, and your album has been in top 30 rotation almost every week since we got it. Be sure to add those new pictures, soon, too.

yo, that was a crazy and insane show (hali/pavillion).
I totally lost it!
aha! and I talked to you (Nirmala) before the show…I asked you if it was ok to leave my coat against the wall…and you were like ‘I dunno’...good moment. haha
I wanted to say some words of appreciation to you about your band like: ‘I like your band’ but I got weirded out and figured I’d just end up being awkward…so what, I guess this is me redeming myself?
sure.
oh, And I apologize for that guy with the ‘hearts’ thing…he’s obsessed.
anyway, we all mean well…
take care!
Sinzi

P.S: I hope the Pavillion show was cooler then the other show you played that night aka ‘stage 9’! I’m not 19 yet so I couldn’t go! poopy. BUT IT WAS a good ass show none the less, I just want the pavillion to win out!

k I’m srsly done now.

Sinziana – no need to apologize for the tall redhead. His “heart” hand signals were encouraging, as was his crazy dancing. He kept wanting to shake hands while he was in the crowd and we were on stage, like we were Bon Jovi or something, and that was okay, too.

(I remember the coat. I was all, “If you want to throw your coat on the ground by the janitor’s closet, that’s cool, but people might step on it.” Really, though, who cares if people step on your coat? You just brush that shit off.)

The Pavilion was great! So great. I’m glad you guys have that place.
