Cancellations / Apologies

Posted Nov 2, 12:17 by Ronnie Morris

Apologies to those in Regina and Chicago who might have come out to see us, but we’ve had a run of bad luck and had to cancel those shows.

Our van broke down travelling through British Columbia Friday night, and we had to be towed 165 kms or so to Kamloops to have it looked at when the mechanics opened up the next morning. It turned out we just needed to replace the fuel filter, which was a relatively inexpensive repair, and while the distance was too great to make the show that night, we were happy the promoter was able to reschedule it for Sunday night.

But then, driving through Alberta on Sunday, the fan broke down again, and this time it was the engine, and we couldn’t get it fixed. By the time the mechanics in Medicine Hat could pronounce the old van dead, we’d missed the Regina show a second time, and had run out of time to make it to Chicago.

There wasn’t a single suitable full-size van for sale or rent in Medicine Hat, so we had to rent a minivan and a car just to get us back to Toronto. You don’t want to know how much that cost.

So, to everyone in Regina, we’re terribly sorry for missing the show. But we hope you understand, it’s been a rough week. We’ll try and make it back as soon as we can. Hopefully we’ll see you then.

daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn…that is horrible. Those rentals musta been crazy expensive…

What? No promises to make it to Chicago as soon as you can? Maybe do the Empty Bottle or Schubas Tavern when you do.

Good call, Rubani! We played the Empty Bottle last time we were in Chicago (with Death From Above 1979, a double-header matinee and evening show) and it was great!

Steve – I am SO glad you didn’t drive from Minnesota to Illinois to see us. I will say, however, that I was disappointed that my Vince Vaughn/Kanye West stalking opportunities were cut short with the cancellation of the Chicago date. (Hey, isn’t VV originally from Minnesota? Hmmm…..)

And “O” from CJLO – man, you know EXACTLY how crazy expensive that van rental was now.

Oooooh yeah, I felt serious physical pain when I heard the value of that fiscal fallout.
