As for "Poison/Safe"...

Posted Jul 11, 00:17 by Nirmala Basnayake

...the video is in the works. Soon (or soon-ish) it will be posted on our site! Until then, please enjoy some stills from the "Poison/Safe" video shoot.

All I kept thinking was: "How do beekeepers keep from fainting?" It was a hot weekend and we were wearing thermal shorts under our suits. Worse off were the Keepers (Linda, Sam, Kevin the PA and Derek) and The Beast (Ronnie's brother Scott and Kevin the PA again). Their faces were covered as well! You know mascots throw up in their helmets all the time, right? Hats off to our co-stars.

Find us behind the scenes.

as always, awesome! i love that you document the good times..

Yes, when we’re old and wrinkled, we can look back at these photos and smile. That’ll be, what, five or ten years from now? har har

geez…I thought it said “Bookkeeper” and not “Beekeeper” and was looking at the pix thinking “these aren’t bookkeepers, whaaaat?”

Thats what happens when you work as an accountant all day…sigh.

What happens when you work at a radio station also? You mistake the line in “City of Daggers” as “tear out the line-in” rather than “tear our the lining”...seriously…I JUST realized this. I wondered why that sounded funny…

No, it’s “tear out the line-in.” You’ve been fooled by a printing error, my friend.

looks cool… is this inspired by Todd Hayne’s Safe?

Pearly – thanks! Jeff directed the video and was inspired by John Wyndham’s book, The Chrysalids. However, the title “Poison/Safe” was indeed taken from Todd Haynes’ filmography. Poison came out in 1991 and Safe, of course, was released in 1995. (By the way, if you ever meet our webmaster, Kevin, ask him about his special relationship with Safe.)

Awesome! I’m so glad P/S is getting special treatment. I’ve always felt that this song, with the right promo, could be massive. Read the reviews from the usual ball-busters (pitchfork, popmatters…etc) and you’ll see that Poison/Safe is often heralded as a standout. This is fantastic news and I hope it gets the exposure it truly deserves!!!

Thanks, Dave! “Poison/Safe” is a personal favourite so it’s nice to hear that it could be a hit. I’ve found that people who don’t usually listen to music like ours seem to enjoy P/S as well. So maybe…
